The field at the stadium was originally natural grass, but this was replaced in 1970 with artificial turf, which was updated to AstroTurf in 1986. The AstroTurf was replaced with grass in 1998, but the field soon reverted to an artificial surface in 2003. Heavy rains in June 2008 severely damaged the field, washing away the gravel substrate, and creating a large sinkhole in the south end zone, which led to the installation of a FieldTurf surface. A new FieldTurf Revolution 360 playing surface was installed prior to the 2016 season. Bloomington is a gold-rated bicycle-friendly community by the League of American Bicyclists.

The prow, mainmast, and two guns of the USS Indiana (BB-58) are erected at the western entrance of the stadium. Guests under 18 must be accompanied by an adult 21 or older for movies starting at 8pm or later on Friday and Saturday. This theatre is wheelchair-accessible in all auditoriums. The city was established in 1818 by a group of settlers from Kentucky, Tennessee, the Carolinas, and Virginia who were so impressed with "a haven of blooms" that they called it Bloomington. Bus service to Indianapolis is provided by Miller Transportation bus lines, services to the Indianapolis International Airport is provided through shuttle services such as GO Express. State Road 48 starts as a four-lane highway on the city's west side before narrowing to two-lanes at Oard Rd outside the city limits. WTTV is licensed to Bloomington but is based out of Indianapolis as well as its sister station WXIN, which are both owned by Nexstar Media Group.
Southern Indiana receives an abundance of rain, with a yearly average of nearly 50 inches. The current city logo was adopted on January 6, 1986, by the Bloomington Common Council. It was a combination of peony and trout lily, inspired by both quilt patterns used by regional folk artists in 19th century and the shape of Downtown Square. By the 1920s, a more radical solution was needed to deal with the water crisis. A new reservoir, known as Griffy Lake, was constructed in a more geologically suitable area north of the city. (It is now within Bloomington's official city limits.) Later, in the 1950s, two much larger reservoirs, Lake Lemon and Lake Monroe were created in the northeastern and southeastern parts of Monroe County. Monroe Lake was created by the US Army Corps of Engineers for flood control, but has since been used to supply the city and the county with water. The water pumping station at Griffy Lake was mothballed until May of 2020. Bloomington is a city in and the county seat of Monroe County in the central region of the U.S. state of Indiana.
